internal or external diameter
number of coils
spring length is measured on the coil itself
number of coils X wire thickness = spring length
direction of wire winding indicates spring type L or R (see picture)

If the door has more than one spring, the breakage of one often means that the other is at the end of its life – in such cases, it is worth considering replacing the entire set to avoid dismantling the door a second time and paying for service again.
